India Association of Nebraska (IAN) cordially invites you all for the 67th Indian Republic Day celebrations on January 30th, 2016 Saturday evening at the Hindu Temple, Omaha - Social Hall from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. The occasion will be marked with the singing of American and Indian National Anthems , Cultural activities - and one of the highlights of this year's Republic day will be a Fancy Dress competition- "Freedom is a birth right, but, it comes with a cost!".

In addition to the cultural activities, the event will be preceded by a Discussion on the North South Foundation (NSF) Bee Competitions consisting of Spelling, Math, Vocabulary and Geography, Science & Public Speaking from 3:30-4:30 p.m..

The topics covered in the Bee Session are

  • How to signup and prepare for the NSF contests.
  • Detailed Explanation of the 6 Bee Contests being held in Omaha this Year

Below are a few guidelines for participation in the Fancy dress competition.

  • The theme of the fancy dress competition should be based around India's Patriotic and Freedom Fighter characters. The contestant should portray such an individual.
  • Each Participant will be given a maximum of 1 minute to display and to speak a few words about the character portrayed.
  • Participant can register in any one of the four categories based on their age: Group I : 3-8; Group II : 9-13; Group III :14-18 and Group IV: 19 Years and above , including adults.
  • It is essential that the contestants sign up in order to participate. The last day to register for the Fancy Dress Competition is January 23rd, 2016. (Click here to sign up)

Dinner will be catered by Flavours Indian Cuisine from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at a Nominal price.
